i² Identity Index by Hearts & Minds hmperform.com

Free identity assessment · Under 10 minutes

Who you are vs. who you feel you need to be.

The i² Identity Index measures the gap between the real you and the version of you that pressure says you're supposed to be. That gap is where stress, burnout, and inconsistent performance usually start, and it's where growth starts too.

What it is

A simple way to see what pressure is doing to your identity.

Most performers never question the picture of who they're "supposed" to be. They just try to live up to it. Over time, the distance between that picture and who they really are costs energy, confidence, and joy.

The i² Identity Index makes that distance visible. You'll see the same 60 words twice. First, you pick the ones that describe the real you. Then you pick the ones that describe who you feel you need to be. We show you where the two pictures match, where they pull apart, and what it might mean.

It's the same instrument we use with elite athletes, coaches, and Olympic competitors, with a version built for leaders. Performance is performance, and pressure is pressure.

What we measure

Three places the gap shows up.

Your results place you on three spectrums. On each one, you'll see where you actually are, where you feel you need to be, and how far apart they sit.

A wide gap isn't a failing grade. It shows where your energy is going and where the work will matter most.

Where does my value come from?

Worth

Whether your sense of worth rests on results or on who you are. When it rides on results, every loss or bad quarter feels like a verdict on you.

How do I meet setbacks?

Resilience

How you respond when things go wrong. It shows whether you're steady under pressure or spending energy holding it all together.

What's driving me?

Drive

What fuels you. Purpose and outside expectations can both keep you going, but only one of them keeps filling the tank.

How it works

Under ten minutes, start to finish.

Most people finish in 6 to 7 minutes. There are no right answers and nothing to study. Go with your first instinct.

It's free to take, and your results are free too.

  1. Choose the words that describe the real you.

Sixty words. Check the ones that fit who you are today, on a normal day.

  2. Choose them again for who you feel you need to be.

Same words. This time, pick the ones that describe the version of you that pressure expects.

  3. See your gap and what to do with it.

Your results show on screen and arrive by email, with plain-language insights and questions to take into your week.

Behind the Index

Built from years of work with people under real pressure.

The i² Identity Index was created by Trevor Conner, founder of Hearts & Minds. Trevor holds a Master's in Counseling with a sport psychology emphasis and was mentored by the late Trevor Moawad. His work spans Olympic athletes, school and club teams, and business leaders.

Across all of it, one pattern kept showing up. The people who hold up best under pressure know who they are apart from what they produce.

Questions

Before you start.

What is an identity gap?

It's the distance between who you really are and who you feel you need to be to succeed. A small gap usually means you're performing as yourself. A wide gap often means energy is going into keeping up an image, which can show up as stress, burnout, or inconsistent performance.

How long does it take?

Under 10 minutes. Most people finish in 6 to 7. You'll choose from the same 60 words twice, then see your results right away. A copy comes to your inbox.

Is it free?

Yes. The i² Identity Index is free to take, and your results are free. There's no credit card and nothing to buy.

Who can take it?

The sport version is for athletes and competitors 13 and older, plus coaches and parents. Athletes under 18 need a parent or guardian email so results go to both. The leader version is for executives, business owners, and faith-driven leaders.

Is this a psychological test?

No. It's a coaching and reflection tool, not a clinical or psychometric assessment. It doesn't diagnose anything. See the note below for details.

What happens to my answers?

Your responses are stored privately and used to improve the Index. Hearts & Minds doesn't sell or share personal information, and you can ask us to delete your data at any time.

Can I retake it?

Yes. Many people take it again after a season or a few months of work. Your follow-up results show how your gap has changed over time.
